4 things to know about the weather:
Friday will be mild, with high temperatures warming into the low 80s. This will be our last 80° day for some time.
To date we’ve had 14 80° days, and Friday will be our 15th day so far this year with highs in the 80s. This will be a record for the number of 80° days through the end of April. The current record is 14 days, set back in 1976.
As we head into the afternoon and evening hours, we’ll start to see some scattered showers and a few isolated downpours as well. I can’t rule out a thunderstorm or two, but the chance for severe weather is quite low. That being said, there could be some gusty winds if any thunderstorms do form.

The weekend will be much cooler, with rain most likely on your Saturday evening. Expect cloudy skies to start off your Saturday, with temperatures only in the 60s. That’s about 20° colder than Friday. By the afternoon and evening hours, widespread, generally light showers start to spread over the area. We’re not going to pick up a lot of rain – only about a quarter of an inch or less.
We do need the rain. The United States Drought Monitor has our area under a severe drought, which is level three out of five, with five being the most severe.
Rain showers start to taper off Saturday night. There could be a lingering shower early Sunday morning, but most, if not all, of your Sunday is looking dry, with temperatures only staying in the 50s throughout the day. So, it will be cloudy and cool for the second half of the weekend.
The sun returns Monday, with temperatures warming to near 70°. Rain chances return to the forecast on Tuesday and Wednesday.
