Struggling to use Wi-Fi or Bluetooth on your Pixel 8 Pro? You’re not alone.
Several users have reported issues with these wireless connections following the latest Android release. The recent update, dubbed Android 16 QPR3, is part of a quarterly release designed to deliver stability and performance fixes in Pixel devices. This particular update also comes with an adjustable flashlight and reorganised settings.
However, some users have found that – after installing the update, connectivity only seems to work when the phone is cold to the touch. Once it warms up to normal operating temperatures, the connection is lost.
Reddit user danillll2017 has pulled together reports from fellow Pixel 8 Pro owners and spotted the temperature connection. They tested the theory by chilling their device on an ice pack, and their Wi-Fi started working again while the phone stayed cold.

There has been no confirmation from Google on the cause of this malfunction.
Although there is a theory that the Tensor SoC – that’s the processor inside your Pixel – might be throttling the Wi-Fi chip too aggressively at normal temperatures.
When Reddit user danillll2017 dug into the system logs, they also found the Wi-Fi HAL driver – essentially the software that lets your phone’s operating system talk to the wireless hardware – is facing a disconnection. This points to a low-level firmware bug rather than a hardware fault.
It’s worth noting, though, that cooling your phone this way risks damaging the water resistance and could cause condensation on your camera lens.
These connectivity troubles also appear to have popped up prior to the latest Android update. Some reports of dodgy Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on the Pixel 8 Pro and newer models first surfaced after the January 2026 update.
Users have logged into Reddit to express their frustrations.
One user wrote, “Has anyone experienced this? My WiFi will work when restarted for like 10 minutes, then it connects to cellular data and refuses to connect back to WiFi and doesn’t show any networks.”
The issue first began for them two months ago.
Another user said, “Google Pixel support immediately told me to factory reset my phone before they would help me further. I eventually caved and factory reset it, the issue still persists.”

Another user wrote, “Went from having to reboot it to get it back to now nothing. No Bluetooth, no Wi-Fi, even though it’s on, it sees nothing.”
When users have contacted support, it’s been said that the team is not able to assist due to the mobile being out of the warranty timeframe. The Pixel Pro 8 was released in October 2023 and comes with a standard one-year manufacturer’s warranty. Some regions may require this to be extended to two years.
