The sophomore season of the mystery thriller has released its eighth and final episode, “Souvenirs d’enfance,” on April 9. Apple TV has yet to confirm whether the series will return with another installment.
The debut season of The Last Thing He Told Me is based on Laura Dave’s New York Times bestseller of the same name. Similarly, Season 2 is loosely based on the sequel novel, The First Time I Saw Him, which was published on January 6, 2026.
Dave has not yet announced any further sequels that a potential third season can draw from. So, it remains unclear whether the showrunners will continue the series independently, without any source material from the author.
The Last Thing He Told Me follows Hannah Hall, who deals with the aftermath of her husband’s mysterious disappearance amid an embezzlement investigation. As she begins her search for her husband, Hannah forges an unlikely bond with her stepdaughter, becoming determined to shield her from further impending danger.
The show stars Jennifer Garner in the lead as Hannah, along with Angourie Rice as Hannah’s stepdaughter. Other notable cast members include Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Aisha Tyler, Augusto Aguilera, John Harlan Kim, and Geoff Stults, among others.
