FAMU to formerly install Marva Johnson as 13th president on April 21 | News

TALLAHASSEE — Florida A&M University (FAMU) has announced the investiture of the 13^th president, Marva B. Johnson, J.D. The investiture ceremony and accompanying events will take place April 20–21.

With the theme “FAMU Forward, Advancing Excellence,” the celebration will convene students, alumni, faculty, staff, community leaders, and national stakeholders to formally install Johnson.

“It is both an honor and a profound responsibility to serve as president of Florida A&M University,” said Johnson. “This investiture is not simply a celebration of leadership, but a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to excellence, innovation, and the success of every student we serve. Together, we move FAMU forward.”

Before becoming FAMU’s president, she was Group Vice President of State Government Affairs at Charter Communications, where she led efforts to bring broadband connectivity to underserved communities across nine southern states.

Johnson holds a Juris Doctor from Georgia State University College of Law, an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Georgetown University.

She is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Tuesday, April 21

• Investiture ceremony – 11 a.m., Lee Hall Auditorium
• Quadrangle reception – Immediately following the ceremony
• President’s Wind Symphony Concert – 7:30 p.m., Lee Hall Auditorium

The official investiture ceremony will serve as the capstone event, formally installing Johnson and featuring academic traditions, institutional tributes, and remarks from distinguished guests.
