NEW YORK – Patrick Brammall’s first day on set for “The Devil Wears Prada 2” is one he probably won’t forget. On Aug. 5, 2025 the actor was filming scenes with Anne Hathaway in Brooklyn, New York. Paparazzi snapped photos of the duo during and between takes.
“That was a bit mental,” Brammall, 50, recalled to USA TODAY at the movie’s world premiere on Monday night. The Australian-born actor estimates that there were about 300 onlookers. “And then I got home and friends started sending me photos and videos of that moment. And I was like, ‘Well, this is quite surreal. I think I might be in an iconic movie.'”

For “Prada 2,” (in theaters May 1) Hathaway reprises her role of Andy Sachs, who has a new job: features editor at Runway Magazine. And Andy also has a new love interest: Peter, played by Brammall.
Moviegoers might recognize Brammall from the Australian romantic dramedy series “Colin From Accounts,” which he created with his wife Harriet Dyer; they also cowrite and costar in it. “Colin” streams on Paramount+. He’s also set to star in “The Dispatcher,” an upcoming limited series on Apple TV+.
Have Brammall’s friends inquired about his latest gig, specifically asking him what it was like to play Hathaway’s object of affection?
“I tell them, ‘None of your business,'” Brammall said with a laugh. “What happens on set stays on set.”
But that mantra didn’t stop him from singing the praises of Hathaway as a colleague, calling her “the best.”
“She made a real point of making me feel comfortable,” Brammall said. “And she’s the most playful scene partner. She’s unflappable and so present. She was great.”
Hathaway was also present at the premiere. She credited writer Aline Brosh McKenna and director David Frankel, both of whom also worked on the first “Prada” in 2006, with helping to make the sequel a reality. And according to Hathaway, only one more domino needed to fall to get the group back together.
“When (the script) was ready, Meryl (Streep) said ‘yes,'” Hathaway continued. “And the rest of us said, ‘OK!'”
In addition to Streep and Hathaway, both Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci return for the second film. Actors Tracie Thoms and Tibor Feldman also reprise their original roles.
