If your Apple Watch has software-related issues, a fix can sometimes prove frustratingly slow, but a new report suggests that’s set to change.
As MacRumors reports, citing a retail source, Apple is gearing up to offer software fixes for its smartwatches in-store rather than sending devices away for repair. The source says the change is coming later this month and will be available at both Apple Stores and Apple Authorized Service Providers.
The current setup often means that those who come in with problems where software is inaccessible have to send their smartwatch to an official service center. That can take days or sometimes weeks to process and can be frustrating, especially when issues are often minor.
Each store will reportedly get a repair dock connected to a Mac, allowing support staff to make changes and fix issues such as bricked devices, boot loops, or failed updates.
Apple introduced an iPhone-based wireless restore feature for the Apple Watch in 2022 with watchOS 8.5, but it doesn’t work if you can’t press a restore button on your watch. So, those who encounter restricted-access issues are left without a fix until contacting official support.

Apple has yet to confirm this new fix is coming, so if you have an existing Apple Watch issue, it may be worth moving ahead rather than waiting.
