As soon as Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, started reaching people, they discovered that the rear camera setup has a strange issue where, when they took a photo of an object close to the lens with resolution set to 24MP and Focus Enhancer enabled, the image appeared cropped from the right and bottom corners compared to what they saw in the viewfinder.
Recently, Samsung acknowledged the issue and stated that the next software update for the phone will fix it. As it turns out, that software update is already out.
On the Samsung Community forum for Korea, when a Galaxy S26 Ultra user complained about the rear camera cropping issue, a moderator replied saying that the latest software update for the Galaxy S26 Ultra that Samsung is rolling out contains a fix for the problem.
From what we could gather, the moderator is talking about the second software update for the Galaxy S26 series this month, which is live in at least South Korea and the US. We expect Samsung to release in other countries around the world in the next few days.
To check if Samsung has made it available in your region as well as to get it, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Once installed, when you take a close-up or macro shot, it should appear as you saw in the viewfinder.
