The Honor 600 Pro’s design is identical design to the regular Honor 600, sharing the modern clean aesthetic. You are looking at the classic “glass sandwich” construction with a relative wide flat aluminum frame. The front and back glass panels are flat as well and lie slightly recessed into the middle frame.
The most flashy color of the 600 Pro available is orange, even if it’s tamer than the orange iPhone Pros of last year, which have clearly inspired Honor’s new mid-rangers. The Black and the Golden White (or review unit) are both very subdued color options.
The Honor 600 Pro certainly feels premium in your hand. The aluminum frame, glass on the front and what Honor calls “translucent composite fiber” on the back feel great to the touch. The back has a nice and grippy matte finish, which does not easily collect fingerprints and smudges, which is always appreciated. There is practically no flex or hollowness to the chassis when you apply force to it.
Honor doesn’t share exactly what kind of glass it is using for the front, but it says it’s rated a four on the Mohs hardness scale, which is par for the course. The excellent IP68/IP69K rating, means the 600 Pro can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to thirty minutes. The phone also has an SGS 5-star Premium Performance Certification of Drop & Crush Resistance.
The flat display has minimal bezels and wide curves on all corners. Honor says that the 600 Pro has the largest corner radius of any Android device, for what that’s worth. More importantly, the display bezels are sub-1 mm and the selfie camera hole is also very reasonably sized. There are no visible sensors here. Everything is nicely tucked away around the edges or under the display and that includes the earpiece.
The Honor 600 Pro’s most unusual control is the dedicated AI button that can also double as a camera shutter key. It feels pretty nice to the touch, just like the other buttons. All of them are well-positioned, comfortable to use and clicky.
Honor 600 Pro
The left-hand side of the frame is empty. There are a few holes on the top, including the speaker grill for the second speaker in the stereo setup, and a hole for the secondary microphone. The bottom side is expectedly busy with the main speaker grill, a hole for the main mic, the Type-C port and the SIM tray.
The Honor 600 Pro uses an under-display fingerprint reader of the more basic optical variety. It is both speedy and accurate, so no complaints there.
