Natalie Woodburn, who runs NS Karate School in Barrow, has set up MyTownHub.
The app is designed to bring together local businesses, services and events in one place.
Covering Barrow, Ulverston, and Millom, it allows people to find and contact businesses directly.
Users don’t need to sign up; they simply open the app, select their town, and instantly see what’s on and which businesses are available nearby.
The app was built to simplify the way people find services.
Natalie said: “It’s already being shared across the community and reaching thousands of local families, so I’m really excited to see it grow and support local businesses.”
She added: “I set it up because, as a business owner, posting my classes on Facebook was messy and easy to lose.
“Every day I was seeing ‘can anyone recommend…’ posts, and it made me realise there wasn’t one place where everything was visible and easy to find.
“Also, as a mum, it’s so helpful to quickly see who’s available locally – like cleaners, dog walkers, clubs, etc – without having to search loads of different places.
“MyTownHub will make it easier for people to find and support local businesses in their own area, all in one place.
“It will help businesses get seen by real local customers, without getting lost on social media, and make everyday life easier for people trying to find services, clubs, and things to do.
“Long term, I want it to become the go-to app for every town – where people go first when they need anything local.”
The app is already being introduced to thousands of local families through an existing karate network across 25 primary schools.
Parents are directed to the app to view class information and book Natalie’s karate classes, creating a strong local audience and helping businesses get in front of real users from day one.
Natalie said: “I feel lucky to be in 25 schools and want to help other businesses by bringing their services in front of those families too.”

Its mission is to create one place where people can discover everything local, help businesses get seen by the people around them, and make local discovery easy, organised, and accessible.
The app launched last weekend and has already seen lots of interest.
Businesses can email mytownhub@icloud.com to find out more.
