Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2 introduces an alluring new vixen to the HBO hit. Angel (Priscilla Delgado) is a spitfire of a stripper who works at the Silver Slipper and soon becomes Rue’s (Zendaya) latest close friend-with-benefits. However, it’s unclear if Angel’s story is poised to have a happy ending or if a bleaker fate for the tempestuous siren has already been sealed…
**Spoilers for Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2, now streaming on HBO Max**
In last week’s Euphoria Season 3 premiere, Rue almost died at the hands of imposing strip club owner Alamo (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje). She had initially arrived at his magnificent ranch to deliver drugs he purchased from Laurie (Martha Kelly) and soon ingratiated herself to the powerful man. That goodwill almost completely dissolved when one of his girls, Tish (Emma Kotos), drops dead from fentanyl laced in Laurie’s drugs. Rue takes the blame, but argues her way into a test of “God’s faith” in her. When she survives Alamo shooting an apple off of the top of her head, Rue gets to join his team.
In Euphoria Season 3 Episode 2, we learn exactly what Rue is doing for Alamo. Her first gig is disposing of Tish’s body, but then the job perks up. Rue starts helping out around the Silver Slipper, one of Alamo’s “always nude, always lewd” strip joints. There, she is immediately taken by the fiery Angel. The two hook up the first night they meet, but then their friendship becomes more complicated.
You see, Angel was best friends with Tish and she’s not buying the cover story that her pal just ran off with a guy without saying goodbye. Rue eventually takes pity on Angel, revealing that Tish died of a fentanyl overdose (without disclosing her own role in the death or coverup). Angel then begins to spiral into addiction which negatively affects her place at the Silver Slipper.
Rue argues on Angel’s behalf to Alamo, saying she just needs rehab, but the stripper can’t afford it. Alamo says he’ll pay for it. Rue is given the task of bringing a distressed Angel to this rehab facility and the ride is full of ominous clues that Alamo may not be as magnanimous as Rue believes. Angel ruminates on how many people go missing in California and the rehab facility is creepy, to say the least. Nevertheless, Rue leaves Angel there.
When DECIDER asked Euphoria star Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje if we should be assume that Alamo is used to losing girls like Tish and/or Angel, he said, “I think you should. You should always look at whatever he’s doing with an inkling of extra danger.”
“I think one of the nice things about this relationship between Alamo and Rue’s characters, is that it’s somewhat of a dance,” Akinnuoye-Agbaje said. “I think he sees some elements of himself in her, which is why he’s able to give her us a relative grace.”
“But he’s watching her like a hawk and seeing how she performs at these tasks. If she fails, she’s gone. If she excels, maybe he can use her. Do you know what I mean?”
Euphoria star Martha Kelly also revealed to DECIDER that the reason why Laurie calls Alamo a pig — much to his chagrin — probably has to do with what she knows about his relationship with his “girls.”
“I think that they have a past where she saw him treat women as bad as you can possibly treat them,” Kelly said. “And so we haven’t seen how how brutal he can be yet…but I think Laurie knows more of what he’s capable of.”
Okay, but circling back to the electrifying Angel. Who plays Angel on Euphoria?
24-year-old actress Priscilla Delgado plays Angel on Euphoria Season 3. The Spanish actress was born in Puerto Rico and started acting as a child in Spain, appearing in shows like Paco’s Men and La chica de ayer. She continued to work steadily in Spain through her adolescence, playing young Antía in Pedro Almodovar’s 2016 film Julieta.
In 2002, Delgado made her stateside debut in Prime Video’s critically-acclaimed series, A League of Their Own. Delgado played Esti González, one of the women playing for the Rockford Peaches. The series was sadly canceled after one season.
You can follow Priscilla Delgado on Instagram @priscilla.delgado.
Here’s hoping we see more of Delgado — and Angel — on Euphoria soon.
New episodes of Euphoria Season 3 premiere on Sundays at 9 PM ET on HBO and HBO Max.
